Change the default font in Google Docs

The question came up twice this week so there are probably a few more that could find this helpful. If you are looking for a new default font for your documents or you're simply tired of Arial 11. Here are the steps:
  1. Type some sample text "have a nice day"
  2. Change the text to the font/format you want.
  3. Click the dropdown menu that says "Normal text"
  4. Click on the arrow to the right that appears.
  5. Click on the option "Update Normal text to match"
  6. You have now set the default font for the current document, To set this font as the default for all new documents:
  7. Click on "Normal text" again
  8. At bottom of menu, Click on Options (the gear)
  9. Click Save as my default styles
If you are constantly adjusting fonts in new docs, this could save you some time.
